Roller Skate Brakes

At some point, your brakes will wear out and need replacement. Fortunately, the replacement process is relatively simple – typically, you’ll need a new set of brakes, an Allen wrench, and a few minutes of your time. In other words, there’s no need to take your rollerblades to a workshop for brake replacement.

At “Skates & Rollers” we offer various options for roller skate brakes and pads that you can purchase with delivery to the USA and Canada.

Having a stock brake contributes to a more comfortable and safe rollerblading experience, even at high speeds and during extreme maneuvers. Currently, enthusiasts of roller sports actively discuss whether a "stock" brake is indeed a necessary component of high-quality rollerblades.

Stock Brake is a small device attached to the rear part of the left boot. It facilitates braking at medium and high speeds and reduces the risk of injuries from falls by timely engaging the braking mechanism.

In most cases, professional rollerblades are equipped with a stock brake. Athletes note its crucial role, especially during high-speed skating, as having a braking system allows overcoming the psychological fear of high speeds. According to manufacturers, the stock brake is one of the key components of rollerblades that ensures additional safety and enhances comfort during skating.

This is why most major rollerblade manufacturers prefer not to take risks and install a stock brake even in models designed for professionals. However, the majority of beginner athletes prefer to get rid of them as quickly as possible. This is explained by the fact that while the brake is there, not everyone can effectively manage it. Among beginner rollerbladers, there is a common belief that the "stock" brake interferes with performing most tricks and is ineffective when skating at speeds exceeding 30 km/h.
